Hypnosis & Therapeutic Imagery

Empowering Yourself Through The Mind, Body, Spirit Connection

How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Hypnotic techniques are used to induce deep relaxation and an altered state of consciousness. Hypnosis occurs naturally to each of us on a daily basis, so anyone can be hypnotized. While in hypnosis, you are keenly focused and very receptive to ideas or images, but a hypnotherapist does not control your mind or free will. On the contrary, hypnosis actually teaches you to master your various states of awareness in order to positively affect your bodily functions and psychological responses. Hypnosis lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and changes certain types of brain wave activity. In this relaxed state, you feel at ease physically yet fully awake mentally and are highly responsive to suggestion.

How Can Hypnotherapy Change Behavior?

When something happens to us, we remember it and associate a certain behavior in response. Each time a similar event occurs, our physical and emotional reactions attached to the memory are repeated. These reactions are sometimes unhealthy. A hypnotherapist guides you to recall the event that led to the associated reaction, then helps separate the memory from the learned behavior by using the power of suggestion to replace unhealthy reactions with new, healthier ones.  Learn more . . .
